i took out an extended warranty on my new washing machine when i bought it from comet. i needed to call out an engineer as i thought it was very loud. he fitted an dampener to make it quiter. all well and good. the machine stated to get louder so i called them out again. they now want to charge me for the visit as there was found to be nothing wrong with the machine, if there isn't anything wrong thatis the policy. HOW DO I KNOW IF THERES ANYTHING WRONG?? if i was a washing machine engineer i wouldn't need the warranty. have called the warranty people and got no were. any suggestions Please.

Tough one, if it suddenly got louder it could be the bearings, a counterbalance weight shifted or even an unlevel machine.
As you say not easy to diagnose if you dont know, true of any other appliance as well !
Probably worth a call to your local CAB and/or trading standards people to see what they say.0 -
How old is the machine? If its new you may have some rights against the trader who sold it to you. Otherwise what was printed in the warranty spells out what you can expect from the warranty provider.
If they can't/won't diagnose a fault you'll have to get a 2nd opinion. If the warranty company will not repair, you will have to pay someone else, then send the bills to the warranty company for breach of contract. You do have rights for the service(s) you receive.
It's definately worth digging out the terms and conditions of your warranty to see what you can demand. It might be worth sending them a Recorded Delivery letter pointing out that if they do not come and diagnose/repair the fault you'll have no other option but to pay someone else and send them the bill for their breach of contract.:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0 -
Just a thought.........have you put a spirit level on it to check if it is standing on even ground/level?10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0

will try trading standards, i pointed out to the very unhelp girl on the phone, if there wasnt anything wrong i should have been told that i would be charged for the call out before they came. i think this should be pointed out. she said it would be in the warranty docs, but you dont recieve them untill after you've paid. its a bit of a catch 22 situation. had no probs when i was with domestic and general!!susiesue
