Help please - Credit check

Hi all
Don't know where to post this so sorry if in a wrong place...
My husband recently tried to buy a mobile phone and when his credit was checked, he was reffered. He got concerned and checked his national credit score on Experian which came up with a score of 931 which is better then 70% of UK population.
The report that accompanied the score, which shows all your last payments was all green, never missed a payment, ever.
He then went today to Homebase to buy a BBQ and when he applied for a Homebase credit card (it gives 10% of any purchase and is intrest free), he was reffered again, with a decission that it will take 7-10 days for desicion to be made whether he can have the card or not.
After speaking with people at Experian as to why these refferals are happening, the representative at Experian said that he does not understand why, as the lenders should be trowing money at him with a score and report my husband got with them.
It is very worrying and frustrating.
Does anyone know of a reason as to why these referals are happening?

Sounds like an Electoral Roll (or maybe CIFAS?) issue. Or maybe it's you who has the poor credit rating (if you share a financial association)?
The lenders may be searching one of the other credit reference agencies. What do his Equifax & CallCredit reports look like? What do your own reports show?
Oh, and don't waste any more money on worthless credit scores.

You are assuming that all of these lenders have searched Experian, well Homebase card search Equifax as do Vodafone. Get your Equifax file.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution.
