thanks poppyg - im not sure what the deal is with freezing interest? if i call a company and tell them im not going to be spending on the card again would they allow me? unfortunately i dont think i can get any more 0% deals - too much credit in my name atm i think as virgin declined me not too long ago. Im afraid the student loan comes out automatically once you go above the £15k/year threshold so I dont have a choice there - im definitely going to be looking into reducing the amount i spend on food - im trying to lose weight but spending a fortune on it! we're also moving house in July to somewhere smaller so that should save use about £100 each a month
ive been thinking of getting a slow cooker - are they really good?
Thanks!0 -
Louby Lou,
I know how you feel about the overtime..working anti-social hours is a drag. I work shifts and I have worked nights which is tougher still. I realise that you are freaked out but you are young and will have time to be debtfree and have a disposable income to enjoy in the future. Good luck with it.0 -
Hi
Do you know the APRs on those debts?
Put the information into the snowball on www.whatsthecost.com and see which one to pay off first (usually the most expensive).
Can you swap your OD to the Alliance and Leicester, 0% deal; you must have been in credit for two days in the month?
What can the partner do if he does not have a proper job? Agency work? Survey site, pay for clicks and mystery shopping at least. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
thats going to be my weekend's task - find out the aprs on these things - thanks for that! need to get organised and stop wallowing!0

Hi Louby-lou
I know how you feel! Poor you. I paid off my (small) debt last year - but I'm still struggling, studying, got 2 part time jobs, and sometimes it all just feels like too much hard work.
Like others have said though, it's good you've realised it this early!
I've been lurking around here for a while, and occasionally pop in, but landed up in tears earlier today with the stress of trying to keep track of everything, so have decided to pop in more often, and maybe even take on a challenge or 2. Why don't you try a couple too? If you're not already of course...
Good luck, keep your chin up - and when you're working late think how great you'll feel when you've paid everything off0 -
thats going to be my weekend's task - find out the aprs on these things - thanks for that! need to get organised and stop wallowing!
If its any help the Apr is in small print on the statements, they dont make it easy to find, incase you realise what your paying!
Honestly your doing really well, esp paying your student loan etc back, just think get the debts done and dusted now, then you've got the rest of your life debt free, then when ur friends are in their 30s and full of debt, your be able to pass onyour wonderful years of wisdom from this site!
Ps Your still allowed the ocassion wallowing, debts without any wallowing wouldnt just wouldnt be the same.
Keep your chin up, youur on the right track with this site.
xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Every little money saving step you can do, is a big step on the debt free front, I'm exicted just cleared my 1st card today, (not my biggest, a medium balance) admittally I used some of my compensation money from an accident that I recieved, but by god did it feel good writing the cheque, then it will feel even better when I get next months statement showing a zero balance, and for good measure I have cut up the card, into lots of little pieces. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Remember to close the account as well.
That stop any strange charges or paymnents being made. it is amazing how many people are contacted about a debt that is wholly charges (for not using the account in a year, for insurance that did not know they had signed up for, plus charges on charges). If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
