I have just open this account but bit apprehensive sending the cheque. Can i pay directly via my own RBS bank?

Why apprehensive - main problem is that you have to leave the dosh in your current account until cashed.
You may be able to send a cheque for the minimum then transfer the rest, but I'd go for opening their savings account with a quid, then DD the money over, then transfer into the fixed-rate account.0 -
For the Icesave Fixed Term Account I seem to recall it's a one payment only account.

I don't have the new one yet, but for the old one I waited until they sent me the account number and then I transfered the money from my normal account. No checks involved.Being brave is going after your dreams head on0

As soon as you have online access with a linked account, you can open a fixed rate bond directly with a DD from that account - it doesn't have to go through the savings account first.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
