    You don't. Full stop.

They are supposed to refund the taxes - but in doing so they are permitted to apply an admin fee which - guess what - happens to be the same amount as the taxes.

You have more chance of finding rocking horse s**t than getting any sort of refund from Ryanair.

Refund from Ryanair? I've got two words to say on the subject.

    Good Luck!

Ryan Air have just refunded me £79 without any hassle because they changed flight times from 22.00 pm to 06.30 am. They gave me three choices, transfer to the earlier time, credit or refund. I accepted the refund offer and kept my fingers crossed as I re-booked the earlier flight at 2 returns for £46. The refund took about 3 weeks to be credited to my account.

I have not in the past bothered with the hassle of cancelling. If you travel frequently with them its all swings and roundabouts.
