Are surveys backlogged ?

. PS i think, for what its worth, that it all does sound suspicious as the purchaser of your house would have no input or an indication of dates of a survey (unless they are directly organising their own survey) as it would generally be arranged by the lender, the surveying company and your estate agent. So for him to promise when it will be carried out sounds a little odd.
He is quoting his "lender" when he gives a timescale - he rings them and they say - it will be within 48 hours, or next week e.t.c.It's not paranoia if they really are after you.0 -
Just re-read your original post. If he only got "an agreement in principle" he might not have even done the application yet, if he is waiting for a better mortgage deal to appear. Might be worth asking him to ask his "lenders" which company they have instructed to carry out the survey?0

When I made an offer on my property, I already had the AIP in place, after hearing the offer was accepted, I instructed the servey straight away, which turned around pretty much within a matter of days, not weeks which you are seeing. I dont know about your individual mortgage provider (Mine was Halifax), but the survey process was pretty much seamless, and quick. I agree with the above you are being played here...0

Well he has been in touch and the mortgage is with Nat West and they are telling him that surveys are backlogged and are taking a long time to arrange.
Anyone back this up ?
In the current climate none of the chain wants to be upsetting their buyer and if there is a genuine hold up then fair do's.It's not paranoia if they really are after you.0 -
Phone natwest as a new customer enquiry, and ask how long the process is taking at the moment. Tell them you heard a rumour about how long the process takes.
I have just had a formal offer from the post office, and it took about 2-3 months, just due to shear volume, and not enough staff to cope. I would phone them, and they would say 24-48 hours, and then say the same when I rang them a week later. So perhaps he is just passing on the information he has been getting.Debt free. March 20200
