Hi i hope you can help. I have booked a euro star trip for myself, my husband and m 2 year old in august and obviously the train goes to Gare du Nord, can anyone recommend any hotels close to the station so we can literally walk to it.
We hoping the next day to go to Eurodisney for the day, does anybody know how to get there from Gare du Nord in Paris? Our plan is then to go to La Rochelle for 5 days, hope it all works out.
Thank you for your help!1

There are a lot of hotels in the area but some are a bit rough. Some years ago I stayed at Hotel Kuntz
http://www.hotelkuntz.com/
which was good, but ideally you need more up to date info on this.
We were (rather childishly) attracted by the name when we saw it down the street. I imagine they lose a fair number of towels as souvenirs. It doesn't sound so rude in French!

has maps and info in English on travel in Paris. RER (express metro) lines B or D to Chatelet and then line A to Marne-la-Vallee is best way to Disney. On the metro you need to look for the last station on the line to make sure you go in the right direction not northbound or southbound as on the London tube.0 -
Eurodisney is about 30-40 min's away on the train
can't remember weather its Guard le nord or the stop before
but you can get a direct train from one of them
it saves messing about with changing from platforms/trains etc
have a good time0 -
Thank you so much
I'm really looking forward toit its just a lo of time and hassle planning is'nt it but i know it will be better and cheaper than a package holiday when we get there!!!0 -

Yes a good thought. If your train stops at Charles de Gaulle airport you can change there and get a TGV to Disney (about 15 minutes journey) which is simpler than going into Paris itself. Trains to the south of France take this route to avoid Paris. You can also change trains at Lille but it you have already booked the Eurostar tickets this might not be an option without paying again for the journey from Lille. TGV journeys involve booking seats as with Eurostar so you might want to do this in advance.0 -
I know this may not suit you but the Metro is so good you could stay a little further outside Gare du Nord in better surroundings.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

I agree absolutely with #6. And if the metro doesn't suit you, the buses are also good, and give better views of Paris.0

Gare Du Nord area hotels can be very rough, well worth checking them out first on trip advisor before you book anything - i stayed at the 'Grand Hotel de Paris' and it was an absolute pit, looked it up afterwards (d'oh!), and sure enough all the reviews said 'never stay here'. We booked it through euro star i think, and i was very pleased that i was away with my friends for the rugby and not trying to have a romantic weekend with the wife - divorce would be beckoning!if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0

Penniless96,
we stayed at a Hotel directly opposite Gare Du Nord a few years ago. The only advantage was it was 50 yards from the station. One problem was no a/c, crikey was that a mistake. Warm evenings with the windows open and all you got was noise and fumes.
It isn't really a problem moving around Paris via Metro or bus.
We tend to go to Paris yearly for short breaks, and because the Metro is so easy to move around not a lot of time gets wasted.
Select a better area to stay in so that if you fancy a walk around or go for a nice meal you are not just watching lines and lines of smelly vehicles!!
We have managed to get one of the Eurostar 2-for-1 deals for the end of July, so we will be looking for a hotel more central.
We also tended to have a day trip into Paris from Disneyland Paris. Again very easy.
Enjoy your trip, and if I can answer any other questions feel free to ask
