Do you wish to know in case it happens in the future or because it has all ready happened?
If it has already happened what is your connection with the deceased?
I think "Which" has a book with the title
"What to do if someone dies"
Ask for it at a local library or buy a copy.

just done this myself for my mother
go to local probate office fill in a form
fee is £90 for probate takes around a month as it is a legal court document
or alternative to this is go to a leaching solicitor who does exactly the same thing and charges £500 for his or her service
hope this helps0 -
Hi,
When someone dies without leaving a will they are said to be intestate. The bank account and all savings will be frozen untill someone is legally placed in charge.
This person will have to go the the local probate registry to obtain probate (or the right to administer the deceased account). If there is an inheritance tax issue (ie the estate is worth more than £275000 I believe it is now) then you will not be able to access the accounts without paying the IR first.
It really is quite straightforward and is not worth going to a solicitor for as they will charge you a fortune for doing what can be done by yourself.
As an aside you may need to obtain an R27 form from the IR (possible repayment to the estate). Go for it and condolences on your loss.0
