£4380 plus VAT Fixed Price
1)supply and erect scaffolding
2)strip existing roof coverings (there is the main house and a small lean to extention) and set aside tiles for salvage
3) supply fix tyvek upro underlay and 50x25 treated battens
4) refix salvaged tiles to 1 elevation (on main roof) supply and fix new spanish slates to the other side
5) supply and fix marley concrete tiles to side extension.
6) supply and fix new lead flashings to chimney stack
7) tidy up and clear.
i had a second quote to fix any broken tiles on the side extension, recover the main roof with salvaged tiles and using replacement ones for unuseable/missing tiles, felt & battening of roof using chester top membrane and 25 x 38 battens , fitting of lead flashings and repointing chinmey which needs doing - estimate £2,795 plus VAT
Any roofers can offer opinion - i am a bit worried about the different sized battens quoted. how can they differ? has someone underestimated the size?

Hi TBeckett,
I don't know where you're based but I got a Dartford, Kent based firm to come and replace my roof in East London. Terraced Victorian property. £4,200 altogether. Scaffolding and skip included. Roof stripped, replaced with eternit tiles. Felting, battens, etc as well. Nothing salvaged, it all looked knackered. Some fascia board replaced. Two blokes about 6/7 working days over two weeks. Prompt, tidy, friendly. Viv advised against Spanish slates as they're apt to crack, hence me going for eternit. If you're going for concrete tiles, they're heavier than most, so make sure they're adequately supported underneath. Can't answer your query re battens, sorry.
