Used car warranty recommendations

I've just bought a car which is now out of the manufacturers warranty. Its a late 2004 Saab 9-3 Aero. The dealer offered an extended warranty which is £300 for a year or £500 for two years, which I declined (thought it was a bit expensive). I would like to arrange one though.

I've noted Quidco have cashback deals on warranties with Click4Warranty and Warranty Wise (£30 or 9% respectively). Can anyone recommend any of these companies or indeed have any other recommendations?

Cheers :money:

    I second that! :)

I had policy from Warranty Direct and claimed three times, every time it was turned down showing some get out clauses!

Just invest the money in a savings account.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

I've heard good things about warranty direct provided you remember to tick all the cover options and follow the rules. The price is on par with the £300 quote though.
£300 a year for a warranty that offers the right cover is great value for money and you should snap that one up.
Really, what kind of claims do you think someone charging £30 a year will ever be able to pay out on?

    Any views on Click4Warranty?

On the face of it they seem cheaper than Warranty Direct. My Warranty Direct policy has just expired and urgently need to sort this out.

    Any help appreciated.

  • No you don't need to sort it out. Just leave it and save the money. The car will be fine.

I just bought a 3 year old Ford Focus C-Max with 18,000 miles on the clock. The dealer is offering a 3 year warranty for £500. Is it worth taking it up?

Unlikely, it's too cheap. Check terms and conditions thoroughly and look in particular on the policy regarding wear and tear. "It's wear and tear" is the usual excuse for getting out of claims, if your not covered for this the warranty is a pointless waster of money.
Your probably better off finding a good savings account for the £500 which you can keep hold of in case you need a repair and then do a bit of research to find a good dependable independent garage with fair prices in your area to use if needed.
