I purchased one of these, as mentioned in this thread, the 200gb one, which has my mp3 music on it.
Unfortunately around Xmas time my PC died, and in the end got a new one from Aldi, and it has Vista on it. I tried to get the lan drive attached, but it was not friends with me, and time was against me, so I left it until now and just had another hour or three at trying to get it working. After reading the instructions (yes it's got that bad) I realised I needed to reset it to attach it to a new network, and successfully attached, and can open it to view it via media player, but not as as a network drive. I can set up new accounts, see all the accounts, but when I try to log in as an exisiting user, it does not give me a selection list, or allow me to type the account name in, neither old ones or new ones. I realised the network name it had from the last PC was MSHOME and now mine is WORKGROUP, so change that, no joy. It does give me some error code, but I cannot find anything on their web site to help me.
Does anyone on here who uses/has one of these and can help me.
Many thanks

Arghhhh!! OK, I had already upgraded the firmware to 2.6.2, but after that the majority went over my head, would someone like to translate into dumb female English!
My Vista is Home Premium. However, I also have Vista Business on my laptop, so if necessary I can do it via that method.

Many thanks for that gentlemen. I have done it on my laptop first, and now I can succesfully map a network drive to it. However, the log on via the Maxtor software is no more successful than before, but I am sure I can work around just using the mapped drive.Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
