I like both brands but went back to Clinique...simply because I think the Liz Earle products are a bit too gentle!! I have quite oily skin. However while I like the clinique clarifying lotion because it makes my skin feel very clean,

Thanks hun, I have oily skin too and like the clarifying lotion for that reason - it may be a skin stripper but at least it's stripping all the oil and general icky stuff off too! (I'm sure that's not good beauty logic at all but hope you know what I mean), worried if I switch to anything milder I'll start having problems with spots and bloked pores and all that stuff again.

I find the clinique clarifying stuff a bit eye watering, I now use a hot flannel to apply the cleanser, rinse the flannel and then rinse my face. Rinse flannel again and put a bit of the clarifying stuff onto the damp flannel.
It doesn't seem to be quite as strong.

Ive used both, most recently the Clinique 3 step. I do find its quite strong and would like to try the Liz Earle stuff again. My skin is awful at the mo, am considering making an appointment to see my GP, this amount of spots at 24 is just wrong! Grrr lol

But thats what Im getting at. You skin is staying oily because its being " stripped". Its gasping for moisture so its producing more oil to compensate.

If you read through the oil cleanser thread you can read what great results people are getting from using oils to deep cleanse and if you look at this
http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/ article it will explain the ins and outs a lot better then me. :)

Honest I wasted years using harsh cleansers and toners and spot lotions and potions. Since I switched to using gentle and more natural products my skin has never looked so good and at 44 and having been a smoker since 11, I can put hand on heart and say NO WRINKLES or SPOTS :)

    Wow. That's quite a recommendation!!!!

That oil method looks scary though.

Well I have to admit I had been swayed to the advantages of using oil to balance an oily skin by using Decleor aromaessences - Cost a fortune but are really lovely and do what they say on the tin. So the leap of faith to the castor oil method wasn't so hard.

Ive only been using the method for a month, the wrinkle free skin is down to (I believe) a no alcohol skincare regime the past 10 years since I found out about your skin producing more oil to compensate. I no longer have congested pores on my face and only a few stubborn ones left on my nose area. Oil production as I say is reduced and no spots and not even a black head to report, Hardest thing is to get the mix right, Ive been getting dry patches across my forehead and cheeks.

Its not to say I have perfect skin, I have Seb Derm which brings its own problems but Im looking a lot better at 44 then I did at 34

i use clinique's sunscreen (city block spf 40) but nothing else from that brand. liz earle is brill and not at all faffy (although I don't wash the muslin cloths every two days, more like once every 3 weeks - i just stick it on the hot radiator and figure it kills the germs)

re the muslins - are these the same as the 'baby' muslins, cos then you could buy loads from toys r us or mothercare!!

Well, I just bit the bullet and ordered a Liz Earle essentials pack. If it doesn't work for me, I still have some clinique stashed away (which can go on Ebay otherwise).

Thanks folks for all you input.
