now with the possiblilty of new price rises on the horizon with british gas click 5 customers i was thinking of coming back to ebico.

the thing i wanted to know was ebico in the past have only had 1 price rise a year or so and i like there not for profit meaning. does anyboy know if ebico will be rising there prices in the near future bearing in mind it is normally 1 a year in the passt?

Nobody can answer that question - even those who run Ebico.

If the wholesale prices Ebico have to pay increase dramatically they will be losing money on each customer. Keeping the prices pegged will mean a lot of people will move to them and they will lose even more money.

Given their ethos, it is fair to assume is that Ebico will peg their prices for as long as they can.

As previously mentioned, that is a very difficult question to answer. When they recently (01/04/2008) increased their prices, they appeared to have written to at least 1 customer 6 weeks earlier suggesting they had no plans to do so

All you can do is to look at the previous history. Before the rise this year, the previous rise was in September 2006 and the one before that in September 2005. I do not believe there was any price rise in 2004 and cannot find any evidence of any earlier price rise.

Ask yourself how many times their competitors have changed their prices over the last 4+years - I think most have well over 3 times (excluding fixed deals).

According to Ebico in August 2007, most of their competitors had revised their prices on average 7 times in the past 4 years compared to Ebico increasing theirs twice. However some of those 7 revisions may have been reductions in price. (Ebico have never reduced their prices)

At the same time in August 2007, Ebico introduced a new policy of 'benchmarking' their prices. This essentially meant that they planned to match their price moves to that of Scottich & Southern Energy (general tariffs). Whether they will or not, who knows? All that I can say is since that announcement, Scottish & Southern Energy have only revised their general tariff once and Ebico also did on the same date (01 April 2008)

We don't know, Ebico could raise their prices if wholesale prices rise rapidly, they'd have to. Depends how far in-front they have managed to buy in energy.

I've recently switched (well started the switch, will take about 6 weeks now) my electric from British Gas Click Energy to Scottish Power Price Fix 2011, as I reckoned the prices will rise sometime between now and 2011. SP have said themselves wholesale prices have increased recently.

Gas I have with Ebico, that I will be keeping with them as the cost difference moving that to SP was to great, the summer months are here soon, so we'll not need any heating, for cooler months, then it's get used to putting jumpers on again, like we had to when we had the awful coal fire and later coal fired central heating.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Chasing the detail and discounts in billing is all well and good, but just nibbling at the edges.
We need a sustained attack on reducing consumption both nationally and personally. Shop lights and government offices energised all night and weekend are one example.
