Barclay Bank Account Application

My hubby has one default which is about 5 years old, he decided to apply to Barclays for a full current account.
Before you apply they ask Do you have a CCJ, Are you Bankrupt?
He answered NO to these as it's true.
There wasn't a question saying Do you have any defaults?
I suppose he felt he stood a good chance of getting an account. He got a reply saying Sorry we can't accept you! Told him to go for a cashcard account:mad:
He's on electoral roll, decent money etc.

They have probably seen the default (viewable for 6 yrs)-without knowing the full extent of the default then it's difficult to see why they said no for a full facility. Bearing in mind that all banks are bing quite strict given the current climate so it's very unfortunate that this has happened. Has he tried any other banks? And out of interest, who is he doing his banking with now and why is he leaving??...all these questions will usually crop up if he is opening an account with another bank aside from his existing bank.Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!

If you are willing to try another bank, a good one to apply to would be Lloyds TSB.
You can do the application in branch or online.
If his application is refused again he should apply for a copy of his credit report.
One last thing he could do is write to the banks referrals department sending in any current bank statements and wage slips, this may allow the bank to offer him a full current account, otherwise he could take the cashcard account and if he operates the account well over 3 months the bank can review his account for a full current accountDELETE ACCOUNT.
