Good old fashioned passbook account

Options
Is it posssible to get a savings account with passbook anymore? I wnat to start savings and liekt he idea of NOT having a cashcard and NOT being able to use internet banking.

I know it is a weird request but I want a passbook account as think having to acually go to a branch and hand over a book will make me think twice about spending the money lol

Will eb looking to save approx £100 a month but do not want to commit to a monthly saver in case some months do not have the money and some months will have more.

thanks

It must be possible, I certainly see lots of (mainly elderly) people flourishing passbooks in the queue at my local Nationwide branch.

My impression is that most branch accounts (with passbooks) appear to offer relatively low rates of interest in comparison with internet/phone-based products.

Most Building Societies still offer passbook accounts...

If you want something to stop you spending the money, why don't you get one of the accounts that make you lose that month's interest if you take money out.

I've gone the other way. I still HAD a passbook account with Britannia until a couple of months ago, when I realised I could get a better rate of interest from them by transferring it to an online saver with them. The internal transfer was same day, so I retained all of my Britannia bonus years' quota which is why I chose to stay with them ... those annual loyalty bonuses are a nice little extra.

To the OP, a glance at most websites of the leading building societies shows that they still offer passbook accounts, albeit with poorer interest rates because of the additional administrative overheads they entail for the providers.
