Hi there I have recently accepted a job with Yorkshire Bank and have to have credit checks and criminal checks etc. Does anyone know what they check for? Is it just Default, CCJ@S IVA etc?Or is it dependent on score?
My credit only has a few lae payments and none of the above but not a great score due to lots of searches in last year. Am so worried I will ge turned down.
Help, does anyone know how it works?
Have had an informal offer and filled in the application form and sent off and have now received the formal offer and disclosure for for criminal checks. Thought the credit ceck would have been done but now not so sure?
Thanks

Why not phone up their HR department annoymously and ask. Every company will set their own policies. Some jobs (e.g. civil servants) have rules about bankruptcy but I haven't heard of any where a lot of searches would make a difference!0

my sister works for a bank and she has a credit check done on her birthday every year, as far as i'm aware its not a full credit check just to check for defaults and ccj's i thinkThe only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about - Oscar Wilde:beer:

I have no personal knowledge, but I did read that banks will search for CCJs and defaults[STRIKE]DFW Nerd number 729[/STRIKE]Debt Free & Proud0

Thanks guys, i thought it was just thos things too in which case I will be fine but if its credit score mine is bad due to amount of credit and amount of searches. However everything is always paid.0

When I worked for a bank it was a search for CCJs and they asked if I had entered into an IVA or had been bankrupt. I'm sure you'll be fine0

They will do checks to make sure you have no real adverse as you have mentioned above.
Unless you go into regulated role like advising then the checks will be fairly simple and you should not worry. It will be a soft footprint left also so you will be the only person who can see that search.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. well thats the problem, I am a mortgage adviser and have been for years so it is an advisory role, up until now I have worked for brokers and been self employed s it was only ccjs defaults bankruptcy etc that sa wanted to know. Am so scared because if I dont get this job it means I basically cant work in any bank and I dont know what to do.1

Under advisory check, you will undergo the same fit and proper tests that you would under self employed roles. Your previous principals will all have been DA with the FSA somewhere up the food chain so will have had to be satisfied you were fit and proper.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. yes, that is true, and I have no more credit than then, what do they class as fit and proper and what do they check for ?0

I worked in a bank for years recruiting new staff and I also had an annual credit check done on me. Anyone working or wanting to work for any of bigger banks/credit card companies this is standard practise.
They are only looking for CCJ's Defaults etc. this it to see if the potential employee could be a risk to the business with internal fraud etc. However, if you do have any of this then all is not lost as they then like to see that there is a repayment plan in place and this has been kept up to date, if so then usually there is no problem, but it all depends on the company of course.
In my experience a persons credit either current or historical has to be really bad to warrant a dismissal.
I'm sure you'll be fine, fingers crossed for you."People buy things they don't need, with money they don't have, to impress people they don't like" - Clive Hamilton on Consumerism.0
