Increasing Overdraft Limit.

Hi,
I have an student account with natwest an am coming towards the end of my first year at uni. I wanted to know whether Natwest are likely to increase my overdraft limit beyond the maximum of £1250 to say £1600, as i need to pay the the deposit on the accomadation for next year. Would they see this as appropriate cirsumstances.
Also would it be useful to say that i will be working over the summer and intend to pay the whole amount off.
Any advice would be great.
Cheers.

Hi Deano welcome :hello: could you possibly go in and see someone at Natwest and see what they advise, someone will be along shortly who will best advise you. Good luck

Hi Deano, I am an ex-employee working on the student lending side, and when I worked for them they were pretty strict on increasing the overdraft over the matrix - i.e. 1250 for the 1st year etc before 1st september (that date may have changed), even if you tell them you'll pay it off over summer. I don't suppose that has changed since I left a couple of years ago. The branch are much more likely to sanction it (if at all), than if you ring up.
HTH. I'll try and answer any other questions!0 -
Hi Deano,
my son has a student account with HSBC. They did increase his overdraft after the first year but I am sure all banks work differently.
Perhaps it would be best to pop into your branch and speak to someone personally. If they do increase it, they can do it there and then. I would certainly tell them you will be working in the summer and intend to pay off what you can.
I am sure they will help you and good luck.0
