Child's Passport

Hi all

Just forked out a ridiculous amount of money for 15 yr old's new passport but I read that when he turns 16 he needs a new adult one. Can anyone tell me if they give you a refund of the 9 years not used? Thanks.

Im pretty sure that he can use the child one until it expires- which would be 5 years, Then he would have to get an adult one next time- and at 20 would be old enough to cough up for it himself

The passport will be valid until the expiry date stamped on it.

If you're under 16 you have to get a child passport (i.e. only valid for 5 years) but they can still travel on it until it expires.

Then next one he needs would then be an adult 10y passport.

yeah, a passport expires when it expires! anyhow other than the fact that it is 5 years and unsigned, I dont actually think there is any difference?
