Click Energy 5 Dual Fuel from British Gas

Hi, I've been with E.ON (nee Powergen) for a few years now, I paid £930 last year for dual fuel so thought about a change. According to USwitch the best deal for me is "Click Energy 5 Dual Fuel from British Gas" which works out to be £170 annual saving plus £60 Quidco.:D

Before I take the plunge does anyone have any thoughts good or bad or ideas for possible alternatives?

All I can think of is whatever prices rises are on the horizon - I think if you look at it and think "will it still be a good deal if the price is 10/20/30% more expensive" then go for it. If on the other hand you are like me and want to fix or cap your prices then shop around.

If customer service is important you can maybe look at suppliers like Atlantic but if you want to fix your price then perhaps the Scottish Power 2011 deal on at the moment. I looked at E-On as it did offer me considerable savings but I am of the opinion that price hikes are inevitable and imminent.

Cheers for that, I would have thought that all suppliers prices would rise anyway:confused:

According to BG; "There’s no cancellation fee and no tie-ins – so you’ve got nothing to lose. What’s more, you could benefit from a range of other great discounts"

  • New to this so please be gentle. I am currently with BG for gas supply and E.on for electric. Can any one tell (HELP) me if they have switched to other suppliers and found better deals in view of the forth coming price hikes ? Many thanks to any replies
  • I'm currently with BG for both gas and electric and on their standard tariff.

I wrote to them yesterday asking if they could confirm whether the click energy 5 tariff would be cheaper (according to their prices it would be, but thought I'd get it in writing!)

    Their reply was:

Your energy accounts are on our standard prices. After comparing your current prices with the Click Energy prices I recommend you remain on your current tariff as your current prices are lower than the Click Energy prices.

I've asked them for an explanation as their prices and comments are in contradiction of each other!

According to my bills in 14 months (Jan 07 to Mar 08) I've used 10,135Kwh of Gas and 5884kwh of electric. Is this good or bad?
In spite of the cost of living, it’s still popular
