DELL Printer Cartridges

Can anyone advise if you must use Dell's own brand cartridges in their printers (as they are quite expensive) or can you use other manufactures brands? I got the printer free with a laptop but the original cartridges were pretty small. I am looking for the equivalent of a Dell Black M4640 and a M4646 Colour.
Many thanks.

Dell printers are manufactured by Lexmark but the cartridges are slightly different so you cant use the lexmark ones, you might wish to refill them which would be much cheaper.
I have found the Inktec kits very good.

You can use Lexmark cartridges with a Dell.
You need to remove the top off the old Dell cartridge and put on the Lexmark.
Agree about using Inkjet refill kits.
Take a look at this thread for more info.

Looks as if ink4u.co.uk
have compatible cartridges for Dell 922 - have ordered, since they have a 10% offer at present, so price is £13.50, free delivery; certainly a lot cheaper than the Dell.0
