Query about upcoming DMP

We have completed the CCCS enquiry form and they have proposed a DMP which we are happy with. The next step is for us to email back and wait for our welcome pack. Once we have agreed and sent signatures to CCCS what happens? Do we start paying from the next month or do we have to wait for all the creditors to agree to the DMP before we start paying it? A further question would be if we do start paying straight away and eg Lloyds take a few months to agree to the DMP what will happen? We can't afford to pay the DMP and the Lloyds on top of that. What if Lloyds start proceedings against us? Can this happen?

Whatever date the CCCs gave you for your DMP starting will be when payments are made to creditors....even if creditors either haven't replied or agreed to the arrangement. You should not pay any creditors separately outwith your DMP but you could check with the CCCs if a token payment to all creditors would be acceptable until your DMP payment to them kicks in. Yes theoretically Lloyds could start proceedings against you but it is unlikely as embarking on a DMP shows you are committed to dealing with your debts and will be making fair pro-rata payments to your creditors. If Lloyds are considering taking further action they would have to consider what they would really get out of it and if the CCCs have worked out your surplus it is unlikely a judge would expect you to pay any more and most creditors realise this. Be prepared for a tricky couple of weeks though because often communication between CCCs and creditors is often not that great or speedy to begin with so you might get some hassle from creditors stating that they've not had the CCCs proposals:mad: In these instances just keep referring them back to the CCCS and certainly not succumb to their demands for payments outwith your DMP arrangement. This can be easier said than done and I certainly have had this experience but it should all smooth out within a couple of months.:T
Best of luck and hope your situation is resolved asap:j :T:hello: :jEternal Optimist:j:hello:BR 22.09.08:staradmin BSC Member 201:staradmin0 -
Thank you. At the end of the day we have no choice we have to do the dmp so we will have to take all the c**p that comes with it I guess.:oLightbulb moment: 14 May 2008Debt free date: April 2014DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 188Nightowl Member No 160

Sorry....the date your DMP payment is taken out of your bank is not the date the pro rata payment is made to your creditors and often that is what causes some hassle. My DMP payment comes out on 1st of the month but is not distributed to my creditors till the 25th of the month. Check with the CCS what the differential in dates are in your plan so that you have that info if you get calls from creditors. If they get shirty refer them back to CCCs:hello: :jEternal Optimist:j:hello:BR 22.09.08:staradmin BSC Member 201:staradmin0
