funnily enough, I am with a recommended female solicitor, whos meant to be s**t hot at divorce. She just doesnt reply to emails and doesnt keep me updated with whats going on. Also someone has said I should declare bankruptcy, but Ive just read my work contract (cabin crew) and they will terminate my employment instantly! I think that would just finish me off!!! Still, as long as my ex is enjoying his new life, debt free, why should I worry!!!!!??? Anyone know a hitman?!!!0

Have you tried phoning? Its harder to ignore people on the end of a telephone than it is via post/email.
Good luck sorting it all out - sounds like a nightmare!0 -
Just because she's s^^t Hot doesn't means she's good for your case.
I'd look at smaller, independant practices, much more likely to get answers in a small firm as people generally know what's going on, I remember my solicitor, her practice was made up of herself, her PA/Secretary and the receptionist and this all knew what was happening with my case day to day.
I know she is a divorce lawyer but you probably need to appoint someone who has more of an interest in debt/repossession because these are the issues most pressing right now. The divorce CAN wait in the bigger picture.
I would certainly advocate keeping in touch with Northern Rock, if they go to court, you will have an opportunity to present your case, and you will receive advise from the duty solicitor, the judge may make an order for you to pay half and to trace your husband, or he may adjourn the proceedings.
Have you a repayment mortgage or interest only. If repayment, ask to change to interest only, they have to consider this request. Keep in touch with them and keep paying half of the mortgage, it is better than nothing.
Make sure you deal in writing though and send recorded delivery where funds permit and keep copies, you'll need them if it goes to court.

Well he would be also dragged down with the mortgage if it went into arrears... Im not sure how the deal is to track people down when this happens though.
Still you should concentrate on fixing your life not being jealous/ takin vengance against your husband concentrae on digging yourself out of the hole.
How did you get 50k in debt might I ask?0 -

this is not surprising or even unreasonable, what did you expect?
if he has dissapeared then why not live in your house rather than wasting money on renting??0
