ASDA wrong price thread

That also works on clothes. I once got annoyed because I'd bought £60 worth of clothes to try on at home. When I tries to return (the problem being without my receipt) they tried to give me half price (because they'd been reduced in the day since I'd bought them). I argued and eventually got the full price returned on a gift card.
Now however I tend to buy clothes in my size, keep them until their reduced and then return and buy straight back at the lower price.
Tip of the moment ( same as hellofreebies basically ) carry your receipt around, and NEVER lose it.

argos is handy for that..i know my neighbour bought one of those steam generators from argos in May priced at £149, in june I showed her the leaflet where it had been reduced down to £99, she was really cross to which i suggested reserving one for her at the local argos so she then took her old one back for a refund and then went a head and paid for her reserved one, new iron and £50 in her pocket....and guess what...couple of weeks later the iron had gone back to £149.0

I have been looking into having my shopping delivered and have always shopped at Asda as they are supposed to be the cheapest but don't do delivery in my area. I looked at Tesco and checked out their "price checker" and they seemed comparable. The catch with the price checker is that it doesn't list all the options for instance if you ytpe in spring onions it lists tesco's as 58p per pack and Asda at 73p a pack when infact if on my asda bill a pack was 35p and on tesco 39p. Armed with this I decided to register and check out who was cheaper. On the 14/09 I shopped at Asda and bought 120 items and then attempted to purchase the same items from tesco online.
Some items i had to substitute from a value brand for a dearer option but that was only three items.
Cost of 120 items in asda was £142.18
Cost of 120 items in Tesco was £167.17, there were a few price reductions lowering this to £164.50.
So from my experience Tesco for me was £22.32 dearer
If Tesco's finds a product to be cheaper at Asda they either say that Asda doesn't stock it (when they do) or 'accidently' put the wrong prices on.
An independent survey found Asda to be cheaper than the others overall, for 8 years running now.
Also considering that Asda have only a fraction of the number of stores that Tesco's and the others do, I think they've done well to be number 2.
P.S Tescos does the bestest egg custards though. When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........0 -

Asda is certainly fantastic at customer relations. I work just half a mile from a large Asda, and I pop in at least once every day, and always troll past the reduced items. Well, on several occasions, I've got to the checkout to find that I've picked up an item that is the last one of its kind on the shelf and has no barcode on it (purely coincidentally, I swear), so the checkout operator calls the supervisor who tells the operator to use a barcode off the 'next best thing' or, if there's nothing similar, to 'give it to the lady for nothing'.
To date (over a period of a year or two) I've had a free avocado pear, several free toys (tennis balls, pens, books etc), and a biscuit storage tin. A double duvet set for the price of a single, a vileda mop with two spare mop heads for the price of a single mop head, and a large, non-stick frying pan for the price of a milk pan. I'm sure there's been other things that I can't remember at the moment. This usually only happens with household goods that are reduced and are not going to be restocked, so there's no current selling price.
Sorry I haven't told you all about this before now, but I'd forgotten about it until I read this thread.
I have to say that this has NEVER happened to me in Tesco.0 -
OK time for a proper Asda misprice:
They are doing all sorts of dried fruit (500g) - either 77p each or 2 or £1.
I bought two packs of raisins - they scanned at 58p each and they took 54p off. Almost BOGOF!
Went back to get 10 more packs.
I'm guessing that 77p is the price of the most expenisve fruit and they just take 54p off regardless of what you buy. So may work with other dried fruit too if they are normally less than 77p.0 -
I like myrnahaz's freebies (well reductions). I've seen it done with a customer off a toilet brush of all things. It obviously takes so long for them to find the correct code and when the checkout runners are so busy.... well you may as well take advantage, but only if you want the item I suppose!!!There is no need to run outside

I wasn't too impressed with Asda, yesterday - they currently have packs of thin sliced beef steak on bogof at £3.99, so I was pretty pleased with myself for finding loads with yellow stickers that were reduced to £2.79 - but the preprinted 'bogof' sticker on the pack had been covered by a blank yellow sticker - which means that the bogof didn't apply to the reduced steak. I think I'd rather buy 2 fresh packs for £3.99 than pay £5.58 for two stale packs.0
