  • If your overcharged in ASDA you get the difference back along with a gift card for £2 ! Even if you've only been overcharged by a couple of pence. I always check my receipt in ASDA and go to customer service for a gift card. They are really guilty of this especially if somethings been reduced !!
Last christmas I had £28 on a gift card all from overcharging !!!
    . FEB GC £255.82£240 :mad::mad::mad:
    MAR GC 230.46/ £240 :T:T
    APRIL GC 237.84/ £230 :(:(:(
MAY GC £296.10/£ 270 (5 week month !)

That's correct. It also applies if you are UNDER charged, and no,they don't then charge you the difference.

See, it pays to be honest.

  • Hi, I was at 2 different Asdas' this week and there was a misprice on their packs of Mars Delight bars reduced from £1.48 to £1.28, anyway came up on the till @ £1.48 so got 20p back at each shop plus two £2 vouchers for my inconvenience.....I was also charged £2.78 for felix mixed 6 can pack as it should have £1.98 anyway as it was done at the same time as my mars delight mistake I only got 1 voucher but I did get the 80p back that I was overcharged..
  • bought paxo today as it was bogof (and the goose is getting fat ;))
Looked on the receipt and it had gone through the til at £1:18, but the refund for the bogof was £1:28, so we paid £1:08 for 2 packs of paxo and they both had 33% extra free!

You will generally get a warmer welcome from the Asda staff than that at Tesco, but they do need reminding of the £2 gift card at times.

I agree Ben500 that Asda do need reminding of their policies. I'd bought some sausages from there and they were off before the use by date. Took them back and I should have been given my money back AND either another product or the price of the product again.

Now this doesn't always happen largely because I think they are so busy, so a friendly reminder " oh should I have got..." does no harm at all.

I have found ASDA top notch when it comes to CS, on the odd occasion if something has been under-par then I have had no problems with the 200% guarantee (money back and new product/money). Or if overcharge getting the £2 and difference for my trouble.

In fact on a few cases were products have not been good, they have said we've had problems with these this week, here's an extra £X for your trouble as well. Can't say fairer than that guvenor !! :j

I find that the whole atmosphere in ASDA is also much more relaxed, and down to earth, Mr T's on the other hand has become more like going into a football ground with the security guards hovering around like its some sort of prison, I expect to be confronted with dobermans at some point in there
  • Asda or Tesco Who is cheaper?

I have been looking into having my shopping delivered and have always shopped at Asda as they are supposed to be the cheapest but don't do delivery in my area. I looked at Tesco and checked out their "price checker" and they seemed comparable. The catch with the price checker is that it doesn't list all the options for instance if you ytpe in spring onions it lists tesco's as 58p per pack and Asda at 73p a pack when infact if on my asda bill a pack was 35p and on tesco 39p. Armed with this I decided to register and check out who was cheaper. On the 14/09 I shopped at Asda and bought 120 items and then attempted to purchase the same items from tesco online.

Some items i had to substitute from a value brand for a dearer option but that was only three items.

Cost of 120 items in asda was £142.18
Cost of 120 items in Tesco was £167.17, there were a few price reductions lowering this to £164.50.

So from my experience Tesco for me was £22.32 dearer
  • In my experience tesco along with somerfield have more bogof offers, if you are shopping to stock up on brand name products they usually have the most,...if you tend to shop with a list before leaving home then Asda is the proberly the best option as overall brand (heinz etc) product prices are generally about 1p to 25p cheaper and unlikely to be more than tescos...though i was in tesco speaking to the manager just last week and he informed me that tesco has just recently invested x amount millions of pounds on price cuts so who can say who is will always be cheaper! with safeway there brand products are usually more expensive but the special weekly offers are great bargains..its all swings and roundabouts at the end of the day and how much time you have keeping up with whos got what each week to work it to your advantage.
  • anyway sorry...back to wrong prices at asda..the other day i bought a childs wooden box with toys in for 14.98, two days later back in asda browsing toys again, i noticed the box had been reduced half price!! ok only £7.50...but it would ve payed for another baby toy i had in my trolley! luckly i had my reciept stil in my purse so complained at customer service who refunded me the 'invisible toy' and charged me again at half the price! wouldnt have bothered normally but it was just two days ago! I remember this happening to me before at brantano's a couple of years ago on some boots that had been reduced to £20 a week later so i complained and accepted a voucher but im sure they wouldve given me a refund if i insisted.

Tip* take your last reciept on your next shop if you've purchased any non food items!
