Benefits and living abroad

hi all, need some good advice.
-currently i have been without work since may of last year.
-my brother has bought a place in spain and wants me, my girlfriend, and my 1 year old son to move out there
-i want to set up my own coaching business
my question is about benefits because although i do not want to claim jsa anymore i still have bills to pay. i had a good chat with the jobcentre who recommended getting a 16 hour part time job whilst my business begins, but living in spain would mean that i could not sign on.
i would like to know what i will get if anything. i still intend to have my address here in the uk at my nans
thanks in advance

I think you can claim JSA for a while if go abroad if you are genuinely looking for work, but I think it is only for a few weeks.
Please bear in mind that if you are living in Spain for longer than three months you will be classed as resident in Spain by the Spanish authorities, and if longer than six months you will be classed as resident in Spain by the UK authorities.
Also that life can be tough for young expat families who need to earn a living, especially if you don't speak Spanish (I apologise if you do). Would you be able to build your business up in the UK?
Hope this helps.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

depending on where you are going in spain Charlton athletic(if it is football coaching you are wanting to work in) have a partnership with a spainish club and I know a couple of people who have been employed out there. maybe worth an email.Duct tape is like the force. As far as I know you can "export" your contributory Jobseeker's Allowance into the Spanish system for up to 13 weeks ... although you must've been receiving JSA here immediately before you go abroad. The Spanish Social Security will pay your JSA at the euro equivalent of the British benefit rate then they'll claim the total sum they paid out from the DWP over here.
