in Credit cards
Hi i got into trouble 3 years ago with a natwest credit card, and have a mark on my credit report. they have given me a card again at the beggining of the year, however i checked my crdit report and the old default is still there after i have paid in full the balance i used to owe.
Is there a template letter i can use to ask them to remove it? or any ideas what i should say in it. Thanks.

Stays on for 6 years from the date of the default I'm afraid.
The only thing you can do is add a note to your credit file.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

Unfortunately not, unless it was factually incorrect - ie you never actually defaulted or it was due to fraud comitted by someone else, for example.

Hi,
I once had a special arrangement regarding a store card on my credit report which they removed as a gesture of goodwill however I believe a default has to stay on there for 6 years. It's a responsible thing to do on the lenders behalf anyway. I have had a default in the past however, but as it was only one and I kept everything else in order it didn't impact on my credit file anyway.

They can remove it if they want to. You have nothing to lose by asking.0
