Aldi - Medion P4220 GPS Satnav

  • Just spotted this on the Aldi website (here's the link - http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/2867_5970.htm)

Looks pretty good - I need a new satnav unit with European mapping, and ideally a widescreen one at that. This seems pretty good value compared to the Tomtom One XL, especially as it comes with the TMC option.

Does anybody know much about these? Or Medion satnav units in general? In particular, how easy/cheap is it to update the map data? I understand Tomtom provide free updates - would it be worth paying more for a Tomtom in order to have this feature?

    Any advice much appreciated.
I bought one when they came out having had a previous Medion with small screen, it works well , but, if you go to w.w.w.navigating.de and look for poihandler.com you will find overlays for the Gopal and all the installing software you want, I also recommend the poi synchronising from their server to your Medion ,it saves a lot os hassle
There is a cost though but it is good stuff

    Cheers A

I decided to bite the bullet and get one of these - haven't tried out all the features yet but so far so good. The display is certainly very good and that's what I bought it for. By the way, they didn't have any on display, but when I asked they got one from the store room, so it's definitely worth asking.
