Tabletop dishwasher help needed urgently!

Hi Peeps, long time lurker driven out of the shadows by a bit of a crisis.
Me and my husband have been told that we can have a tabletop dishwasher for our anniverary present and that my parents can go and collect it with their car (we are car-less) this weekend.
This would be a real godsend as I am disabled and sometimes for health reasons I am unable to do housework, which means our dishes sometimes go a week without getting done.
For ages I have put off getting a dishwasher as our kitchen is tiny and we are not wealthy people, but the state of our environment is driving us both barmy and now tabletops are quite reasonable we are going to go for it.
I have read a lot of the threads about this but might be being a bit dim and need some help.
I have heard that it is possible to buy a part to run the dishwasher off an ordinary tap and you don't need a plumber to fix it. Is this true?
If so, what is this part called? I can't for the life of me find out much about the ins and outs of how this practically works.
Also, before I go ahead and reserve the dishwasher I want, is this mystery wonder part compatible with all tabletop dishwashers, or am I limited in my choices.
I am absolutely pulling my hair out here, I have spent two days googling and still have no concrete answers. If anyone can shed any light on this at all and can spare a few moments to share your wisdom I would be so grateful.
So would hubby as he is sick of the paper plate eating arrangement!
Many thanks, Jen x

Well i've never seen them used for a diswasher before but I can't see why not, I suppose it all depends on what type of taps you have but here's a start just to see what one might look like!

Thank you, Wherryman, you are a total star. That has got me well on the way to sorting this problem out! It's quite a reasonable price too which is a double :T2008 Goals:Lose 4 stone in 2008- 1st 10lbs Lost to date...:DBecome Debt Free by March 2009- £2500 overdrawn- £500 paid- £2000 to go!0

Good luck with everything, Zenjen. Would you mind letting me know how you get on with this and which dishwasher you get, please?
I've been thinking of going down this route and was also concerned about getting it plumbed in and so on. I'd be really grateful to hear of your experience.
Thanks
Regards
Jen
