Good price. None in my local unfortunately:(.

100% OT, but when I first moved to Southampton I had to cycle across town to Bursledon to swap a jumper over as the Millbrook Tescos didn't sell clothes (I'd bought it in London). When I got there I couldn't believe how retro the store was, it was like a timewarp back to the early 80s- low ceilings, old fashioned layout, even the Tesco sign was the old fashioned one! (Google reckons it was built in 1982). Sadly they refurbished it not long after that and pretty much gutted it of all its character:rolleyes:.

  • I brought a widescreen Hitachi TV a few years ago and it started going wrong at about 18 months old. Was repaired 4 times before I was offered a full refund. Lucky I had taken out insurance when it was purchased !!

I got to know the repair company quite well and they told me that they had lots of Hitachi TVs back for repair.

Brought a Toshiba TV instead and it is much better quality.

bought a hitachi 32" widscreen. It is only used occasionly. In two years it had broken down three times. Warranty sorted it out. Our main heavily used TV is a sony 29" which is 11 years old and has never broken down - touch wood. Dont know how good Sony are these days considering they as well as any other manufacturers are buying in cheaper components to stay competative.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D
  • I work for another division of Toshiba and like all manufacturers there is pressure to find components at lower prices. The difference with Toshiba (and Sony I guess) against other cheaper brands is the level of testing that needs to be carried out before a component is approved for use.

We have an ancient Sony portable and use it most days without any problems.

I understand that Hitachi outsourced their TV production to Turkey a number of years ago which maybe why their quality has dropped.
