Well done Barclays

I have to say....well done Barclays. Now I'm not sure if this is normal behaviour, so sorry if people read this and say "and your point is?" but....

I had a cheque paid into my account which bounced. It was from a reliable source ,and shouldnt have bounced, but it did. As it was from a reliable source I thought I would be clever and pay off some of my debts to minimize interest before it had "properly" cleared.. I was horrified this morning to see I was massively over my overdraft limit, as the cheque had bounced.

Fair play to Barclays, contacted them first thing and they said not to worry - no charges yet. Managed to sort something out today so I'm now covered, rang Barcalys to double double check - no charges, and if they do appear they have "noted on the system" and said to call back if they appear and they will refund them.

Cant say fairer than that! Excelent customer Service, really helpfull on the phone and weren't judgemental at all. Now I'm sure other people have had other experiences but I just thought I would post up mine!

I am a fully paid up member of the Lloyds Bank appreciation society and they like Barclays have always looked after me very well. Also I have been with them for over 25 years.

You have done all the work yourself....Barclays will of charged you and may not off been so understanding if you had left it until the next day to put the funds in your account-if you put the money in your account before 3.30pm on a working banking day then the system will not ever recognise you being in debit over your overdraft....therefore they have just said what is the normal...most other banks will operate under the same policy and refund-unless the amount is excessive and deliberately your fault...they have an element of responsibility due to allowing you to draw on the cheque and therefore it doesn't surprise me that they offered to refund should any charges occur. Good customer service as it should always be.
