Neg feedback from rubbish buyer

I am rather angry at the moment.

I sold an item on ebay at the end of February which was fine. Buyer took 10+ days to pay and did not reply to any of the emails I sent regarding payment.

I posted the item as soon as payment was made and emailed the buyer to advise.

I have emailed her about 6 times to ask if she had recieved it so that I could mark the transaction as being complete. Still nothing. not a sausage.

I emailed last week and said that if she didn't want to mail me back then she could at least leave feedback as confirmation that she had recieved. still nowt.

I emailed her again the other day to say that as she had not contacted me - EVER, I would be assuming that the item had been recieved and the transaction complete and so would leave feedback.

I left neutral feedback stating that she took a long time to pay and that there was no communication from her at all.

She has now left me a negative feedback saying '

"I only leave feedback once I have recieved it thanx for mine - nice one"

How stupid do these people act. No negative because of the item - just because I left her a neutral.

I have left a response saying that my feedback is purely factual where as hers is childish retaliation.

She has quite a few negatives from other sellers so it's not just me.

Rubbish people like this should come with a warning.

It will end up with feedback being usless and non-informative. Pointless even

OK, I'll be first to say it and I'll take the heat...any seller that repeatedly emailed me about an item and then was stupid enough to leave a neutral would have had the biggest reddest neg ever by return.

If you are so desperate to know a package has arrived then why not send everything tracked with a signature..otherwise leave your buyers in peace. if somehting doesn't arrive I'm sure they'll let you know pretty quickly and asking for feedback is always a huge red flag.

I have a guy at the moment emailing me for feedback, his despatch was a little tardy and he actually sent me a standard email asking if item had arrived and if so would I leave feedback, on the same day I got a note saying item was being sent that afternoon. I have chosen so far not to leave any feedback as I think with the delay in shipping and the constant emails I cannot leave a positive maybe i fhe continues to harrass I may well be tempted into a neutral at least for harrassment.

To be honest... You sent the package, you have proof of postage (I assume)... leave it at that. Don't message the buyers. I'm sure if it hadn't been received they would have got in touch with you.

Don't think you'll be getting any heat for your reply, Soolin. I totally agree with you. Leaving feedback is not compulsory.

OP, if the buyer chose not to reply to your emails, there's not a lot you can do about it. Had she had a problem, I'm sure you'd have heard from her by now. To hassle her for a reply, then leave her a neutral is enough to warrant a negative back, in my opinion. You should have just left no feedback at all, as she failed to leave you any.

i would have left you neutral or negative too.

a buyer doesn't have to reply to emails or even leave feedback once they have received an item

if they hadn't received it or there was a problem then you would have heard from them

Never ask for feedback! Once the buyer has paid just forget it, they will be in touch if there is a problem. I sell about 100 items a month and only ever know if the item has been received by about half of my buyers. Remember feedback is voluntary.

    I'm with the rest.

Send item on receipt of payment, include despatch note (this is when you can mention feedback) and send email confirming despatch and when buyer can expect it (I use SD so that means next day for me).

Then NEVER, NEVER contact the buyer again unless they contact you first or they leave you bad feedback.

OP I thanked you for your post by mistake-It's like a red rag to a bull to harrass your buyers. If I bought something from you and you endlessly e.mailed me I'd be tempted to leave you a negative as well. I mean, from your post it sounds like you have some compulsive disorder in that you have to constantly be reassured that the buyer has received the item. Like Soolin said, If you're that bothered send everything trackable so you can check without harrassing buyers.

Okay so I'm realising that the general concensus is that I am in the wrong. I can accept the rap on the knuckles and say i have now learned from my mistake.

I will now spread the word that the 11th commandment is:

Thou shalt not ask a buyer to leave feedback :p

Anyway, She did not answer any requests for payment even though the listing said I required immediate payment. All in all it took 12 days for payment with no appology or reason given. That was the main point for the neutral. She did pay eventually so no need to give a negative.

I would have thought that it was common courtesy to reply to someone who asks you a question. A simple 'Yes' would have been suffice.

I'll leave it at that but if others wish to add their neb in - feel free :D

PS - no compulsive disorder - just aim to please
