New job - got paid wrong i think !

Sorry for making a thread but im abit peed off. Sorry about language !
I started my new job last week - at greggs whic h is weekend work - 4 hours a day saturdays and sundays. They wanted me to start friday (just a one off) because saturdays are very busy. I did 12 hours in total, and i am on 4 pounds something an hour. However, i worked so hard for 12 hours. And i got paid yesterday - but i only got paid 24.23. It is not even minimum wage ( i am nearly 17) and i dont know whether to see the manager tomorrow or call greggs before i go in. Also the saturday before (3rd may) i went an induction and i got paid 12.53 for 2.5 hours. So i dont think something is right?
And as silly as it sounds, but it has put me off working there. I spend 6 pounds on bus fair as well. So for 12 hours of hard work i recieved 18.23 then my dinner food cost 3 pounds too. So 15.23 for working hard for 12 hours - i dont even think it is worth it !
Was looking for some advice or what i should do please? thank you.

Did you work twelve hours in one day, or four hours on three days?
It sounds like you missed a cut off point for payroll, so you only got paid for two of the three days (if that is what you worked). Ask next time you are in, it will be corrected in the next pay slip xGone ... or have I?0 -
Sorry for not explaining properly.
I did 4 hours friday, 4 hours saturday and just over 4 hours sunday. I did 4 and half hours sunday because i did the 12-4 time and you have to tidy up etc ready for the next day, you do not get paid for extra time.
I darent ask though - because the manager is very snotty. But if i work it out right its - 4 x 4 (cant do pounds sign sorry) which is 16 pounds. Then double that (saturday and sunday) which is 32 pounds. Then i get about 20 pence, so should be around 34 pounds for saturdays and sundays if i am correct. And then sunday i should have another 16 pounds etc. If the 24 pounds is correct i will not be staying at greggs because it is not worth working so hard for 18 pounds a weekend.

i agree you probably missed the cut off for the pay for the week.
it might be that their pay week goes from saturday to saturday so the sunday pay will go on next weeks money.
personally if i was working a shift on sunday 12 - 4 pm i would be leaving at 4pm. not cleaning up ready for the next day for nothing. that alone would make me leave the job. its simply not acceptable if you work you get paid. end off. i think it is illegal for him/her to expect you to work and not pay you.0 -
It is quite possible that you have been taxed. This is because they have not sorted out your correct tax code yet. It happens at most employers.
Don't worry, it will sort itself out. Probably best to wait for your next pay packet, and if it still doesn't make sense, come back and post everything it says on your payslip xGone ... or have I?0 -
Thank you for your replies.
I was abit peed off as i said. As i was expecting nearly 50 pounds then minus 9 pounds bus fair (3 days), and money spent on dinner etc.
I only did 3 days and i have already had enough. For a number of reasons
1, i am meant to be "training" but the manager etc just pass me on from one to another when i ask for help
But its how they do it, like they do not want to help.
2, the problem with my wages
3, manager is very snotty ( i know not all workers are perfect)
4, i nearly broke my back on sunday - assistant manager asked me to bring some tray things up. There just aibt longer and wider then a bottom of a trolley, they have the wheels and are very heavy also. I at to take them up about 8 steps. I nearly fell down and broke my back.
5, we have to tidy up and do not get paid
I at to stop myself from crying at work last week because i do not like the job so much. But i left school left year, went college for 3 weeks and droped because i did not like it. I was since looking for a job ever since. It does not help that i have a disability - mild cerebal palsey in left leg - means i walk with a limp.

Who ever is working the shift when the shop closes has to tidy up after it closes and do not get paid. Takes the mick if you ask me, especially when i nearly fell down stairs!
Also sorry about my life story in other post.0 -
Why not give it another weekend and see how you feel.. maybe it's nerves in a new post?
& if you are disabled in your leg and walk with a limp then surely you shouldn't be carrying difficult boxes up stairs?BSC Member 155

It could be. Im not sure. But i just felt like not turning up tomorrow, and my mum take my uniform in this week sometime and say i do not want the job. Im not sure what to do yet
.
I would not say im disabled exactly, i have a slight disability which of course does affect me in some ways. But i can carry stuff, but how they expected me to carry them i do not know. I at to carry three of them at once they are exactly like the bottom of a trolly, just abit wider and longer.0
