Hotels in Northumbria

Hello Boardies

Any recommendations for a well priced family friendly hotel in Northumbria, near Seahouses ideally, but not essential.

Cheers, rhm

  • Hi,

Why not look at staying on Holy island... It gets cut of most of the day by the tide, but once the visitors go its an excellant feeling and its makes a really reaceful place to stay. Its got the castle etc to look around and its got a few pubs....

I wouldnot recommend it for really young kids however...

I cannot recommend any hotels.... Sorry!

    Best regards

    Baz
  • Can recommend...

The Oaks Hotel, Alnwick (1/2 mile off the A1, Alnwick Castle, Gardens, Hogwarts, Harry Potter, etc,) - https://www.theoakshotel.co.uk

The Cottage Inn, Dunstan Village (10 min drive off the A1, Nr Craster & Dunstanborough Castle, walk to sea/small harbour, south of Bamborough & Seahouses) - https://www.cottageinnhotel.co.uk

...having stayed at both many times, although haven't stayed in either for a couple of years.

Just south of Seahouses is Beadnell.

We've stayed in Beach Court in Beadnell which is situated right on the beach. On their web site it states that they are Sunday Times 'Top 20 British Seaside Hotels' winner 'Pride of Northumbria Awards'.

Have a look at the photograph on their web site
www.beachcourt.com to see how close they are to the beach and harbour. The building with the turrit is Beach Court.

Beadnell has a fabulous sandy beach and harbour and you're sure of a warm welcome and pleasant stay at Beach Court.

I'm not on commission, I just enjoyed my visit.;)

  • The Sunningdale Hotel in Bamburgh is OK. Had a family room there once and it was reasonably priced. Why not try http://www.seahouses.org/ plenty of options there.
  • Hi,

The Cook and Barker at Newton-on-the-Moor, is a brilliant place to stay / eat! Its about 6 miles from Alnwick and has a fantastic reputation for great food. The rooms are lovely too.....have a look at their site: http://www.cookandbarkerinn.co.uk/
Very reasonable as its such a high quality place!

ps...if you go to Alnwick (you must...the new tree house at Alnwick garden is fab), don't miss 'Barter Books' - an enormous second hand bookstore in an old railway station. They have freshly brewed coffee, homemade biccies and lots of lovely dilapidated sofas to veg in and read! Bliss!!
