What paperwork?

Just had an email from the solicitor who is handling our purchase, and he says he has received a contract from the vendor's sol, and is expecting the rest of the paperwork soon. There is no mortgage involved, so I was wondering what this other paperwork might be.

Any ideas anyone?

I could do, but I don't want to seem an idiot if it is something obvious. It didn't sound like I needed to do anything, so I was just curious really.

Thanks for the quick reply! I hardly had time to proof-read my post :D .

He would be getting copies of the legal title to the property and replies to questionnaires completed by the seller about the proeprty. He will need to go through it all to make sure it makes sense and nothing is missing and to ask any further points he feels are necessary.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

You're buying a house... cash... just at the start of a crash.

Your solicitor is probably waiting for your psych assesment.
Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.

Cheers Richard. That makes perfect sense.

    Very funny :rotfl: .

Nope, I'm buying a flat. And it has to be now for personal reasons.

I think we're getting a pretty good deal actually. Unfortunately the EA doesn't use Rightmove so I can't show you it. I will say however that even a 10% price drop would only equate to the price of couple of decent holidays, so we're not too worried.

    The Contract package consists of:

    1. Contract
    2. Copy of title and plan
    3. Forms regarding property (Property Information form, Fittings & Contents forms etc)
    4. Home Information Pack (if applicable)
    5. As the property is Leasehold, answers to several enquiries raised with the Freeholder.

I would say your solicitor has probably received the first two, maybe the next two but is awaiting the last one.
