Itinerary help for Florida!!

Looking at the massive amount of activities to do in Orlando, can anyone suggest a 2-week itinerary (Aug) of things to do as it will be the families first time there!!

2 adults, 2 children (6yr and 12yr) - staying in a villa so eating out will be kept to only a few times durin the trip!

Any suggestions or previous experiences would be appreciated

Obviously you appreciate there are loads of things to do and to be honest do what you feel like doing but don't kill yourselves. We normally start our trip off with a day shopping or at Seaworld as in our experience its quieter than the disney parks. I'm normally really tired on the first day with jet lag so this suits us well.

I wouldn't go the the magic kingdom on a weekend as its always really busy.

When going to the disney parksI would suggest getting in there for opening time if you want to get on some of the big rides really quickly.

Make use of your disney pass- the water parks typhoon lagoon and blizzard beach are really good, but again get busy on weekends.

With children its good to get a character meal under your belt in disney. Chef Mickeys in the contemporary resort is a great brekfast buffet but consider booking before you go away by phoning disney as this place is always busy.

If your going to do universal get there for opening and you should be able to just walk straight on to some of the big rides eg the hulk etc .

The trick is to not be too rigid you should be able to do everything in two weeks that you want to do. To be honest we normally just wake up take a look at the weather and decide where to go for the day. We find this has always worked for us and doesn't make to holiday too stressful. We've been 7 times since 1997 and now have a toddler in tow and this still worked for us last year and will be doing the same this year. The guys who read the orlando message thread will also no doubt point you in the right direction if you post on there. Also try www.disboards.com and a new board recommended to me by them the other day was www.thedibb.co.uk

dont forget sea world and busch gardens ...i personally wouldnt do magic kingdom, epcot or down town disney but would do mgm and blizzard beach...and i would do universal islands of adventure as well as universal studios although it was looking old the last time i was there (dare say it's probably been done up now though) old town is a great place to go at night some good live music and entertainment there..kennedy space centre is worth a trip if your into nasa etc but dont waste your time if you aint as it is a long drive (i loved it but then i like space things)

as redwoody soup said though see how you feel that day if you are all tired just do blizzard beach or something if you are all energised up go to busch gardens ...dont be too rigid with yourself it is a holiday ....we also enjoyed splendid china for a relaxing day it wasnt busy at all

The dibb has an entire forum dedicated to itineries - might be worth a look.
