External door handles, locks & doing up doors

We're pimping our french doors. Check their sorry selves out here...

I want to use these handles to match all the interior handles in our house. Its not clear whether they'll be ok on an external door, the packaging in-store doesn't say either. What do you reckon?

Also, we're going to need a mortice lock (whats the difference between dead- and sash- ?) and was thinking probably one of these, but how will I know if it will fit the handles? Are they all standard dimensions?

Also, the doors themselves are needing some TLC, what do we do? Just sand them down and apply a couple of coats of exterior paint?

Thanks everyone.

Hi your handles are fine for outside, a deadlock is just the lock and a sashlock is lock and latch which is what you need and all are standard so will marry up ok

Travis is spot on. You'll be fine with those. A deadlock is indeed just the actual lock bit so you would just have a key hole, and a sashlock combines the latch (handles) into the same unit.

One thing you have rebated doors so you will need either a rebated lock or a conversion kit which you use with standard lock, take out old lock and measure width I'm guessing you want a 2 1/2'' lock.
sorry I missed that but woody did too so I don't feel so bad
