Advice booking kids as adults

Hi everyone. This morning I noticed on the First Choice website an unbelieveably cheap holiday to Majorca leaving next tuesday. Went through the process to find a price and as there are 2 adults and 2 kids entered that. Holiday was advertised at £36 per person for 4 adults sharing. When I did it with 2 ads 2 kids price was £900 +. Went back and costed it for 4 adults and it came up at £128 (couldn't believe it!). Anyway I booked the holiday. I just wondered if anyone had done the same thing and whether First Choice can cancel the booking because I didn't book 2 ads & 2 kids.
The holiday is still showing at £36 but if you go through cheapest price to come up is £276 each.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated

  • Hi There,

I did this last year with thomson, we where looking for a cheap hoilday on the internet, but just couldnt find one for under £1000. we found a place we wanted to go but didnt want to pay that much, my husband got fed up and grab the phone and called a thomson adviser told her what apartments they where and where it was. she told him instead of putting our son in as a child to put him in as an adult, as this will mean we will not have to pay room supplement, because they basic a room on 3-4 adults sharing. My hoilday was £1002, then it came down to £802!! :j

We asked her what if they find out? she said " we do it al the time, to make it look like we have beat your hoilday price! Hotel or apartments dont care they just rent the room out per night its not based on the occoupancy, this is down to the hoilday company just ripping us off!

We have do it again this year and once again my hoilday was £200 cheaper.

Sometime this doesnt always work, but on some it does!

    Hope this helps!

Just a word of warning - booking kids as adults is not in itself a problem, but personally I wouldn't get too excited about this holiday just yet. £36pp seems like a major pricing error to me. £36pp barely even covers fuel supplements and airport tax let alone the £15pp ticket on departure charge and the actual cost of the flights and accomodation.

Be aware I'd say its more than likely First Choice will contact you to advise of a pricing error. In their terms and conditions they state they do not have to honour any errors in pricing.

Hope this is not the case but would be highly suprised if not

Either way I will let you know

The £36 offer is still advertised on the First Choice website. I have just rung them and they tell me the booking has gone through ok.
I also had a look at their terms and conditions and it clearly states that
"If you book within 7 days of your departure date, or there is not time to send you a written confirmation, a contract between us will exist when we confirm your booking". I have had an e-mail confirmation, so even if they were to cancel the booking I would get my money back and £ 200 compensation - so either way I think I've had a result.

Unfortunately its gone now. It was showing on the front page on First Choice as one of the top 10 holidays until about 1 o'clock but wasn't available when you went on to book. In fact about half an hour after I booked at 10.30 this morning the price had jumped way up.

Will be keeping fingers crossed all weekend that they dont cancel but as I said if they do I will be £200 quid better off with compensation.

By the way I forgot to say its for 2 weeks and flight meals etc are included - I think its deffo my lucky day - better buy a lottery ticket for the euromillions tonight.

Well First Choice just rang and said it was a pricing error and that we could have the holiday for £169 each. I quoted their own terms and conditions to them and told them that if they cancelled they would have to pay us compensation - the customer services advisor asked to ring me back. She rang back 10 minutes later and said she had spoken to their legal team and that as we had entered into a contract because they confirmed the holiday by e-mail (because its within 14 days of departure), they had no alternative but to give us the holiday for the price we paid. Result - holiday for family of 4 for 2 weeks to Majorca £131
