Energyhelpline and Powergen £150 difference

How come there is a difference of £150 between the information supplied by Energyhelpline and Powergen?

I have been with Scottish power for a year so have a full and accurate total of annual kWh totals for both Gas and Electricity. So using energyhelpline I could apparently I could save up to £30 by moving my elec with Britsh gas, and £37 by moving gas with Cambridge G+E (which I don`t think are trading anymore), saving £67. Other comparison sites come up with a few different figures and companies but all around about the same price. I had a look on greasy palm and clicked the Powergen link (£7.50 cashback) just to see there comparison. Putting in my annual figures it surprised me that I could save £124.50, a massive saving plus I could get Tesco points too! I wondered why this hadn’t come up on energyhelp line so I had another go and the same results, no Powergen on the 1st page but it did appear on the 2nd page at the bottom with a +£25 so it would cost me more. How can the be a difference of £150?

Probably because Powergens site is lying, check on the other comparison sites and find out in their updated price lists that they have an entry for Powergen price change in August time, then you will know it's the accurate pricing

If you know your kilowatt usage then forget the comparison sites and work out your actual bills by hand. Don't forget VAT and discounts. This is the only accurate guide to costs.

  • Thanks for your responses, yes the Powergen web site does lie, I originally done the quick check on their website and this came out with the £125 savings however later I checked through the detailed link and this told me that I would not save any money (in fact I would be worse off). What a minefield this is.
