I travel to work on the bus - for those of you with local knowledge of the West of Scotland I travel on the x76 Cumnock --> Glasgow route. Its a great service - well done Stagecoach.
I think its great nowadays that there are so many ways to listen to music / radio - be it ipods, MP3 players, freebie radios or FM radio functionality on mobile phones.
My vent is targeted at those poorly manufactured headphones that ship with these products - probably the ones at the lower price end of the market. As I sat on the bus this morning, there were five people (and a couple several rows in front) whose music / radio I could hear as if I were listening to it myself. And I didn’t want to listen to it.
I'm not angry at these five people for having their audio so loud, Just their rubbish headphones. I think it's great that they can relax and listen to music / radio on their way to work / study or whatever.
So Come on headphone manufacturers, lets get back to the good old 1980's (don't get me started) when these products were built and tested to be 'personal stereos'.
In the meantime, until this happens if the five people - and other similar folks around this great nation - are reading, could you possibly lower the volume on your audio device...??

Rufus - Often the volume isn't the problem, it is as you said, poor quality headphones that are the cause of the problem.
I always go for Sony earphones myself, that fit snuggly into my ears. I would have to have my mini disc player volume up to the max for others to barely hear the music being played.
I don't know about you, but I find those people who make a racket on the bus while chatting on their mobiles more annoying. >:(Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -

Its a toss up.
To be on the safe side, and to be fair I'd kick them both off my bus.0
