Their site quotes $1.9850 for delivery in December. I assume the reason they can offer better deals in the future is that you have to pay them the money NOW and hence they make money having your money in their bank for the next 7 months.0 -

Thanks for that. Was kinda hoping someone has used them and received the money too.
Basically I go away on the 30th of this month and then can deliver the monies by the 27th. Cutting it a bit short but is the best rate I can find. Just feeling a bit unsure about putting my money in their bank at the minute and was hoping for some previous experiences to re-assure me.EMERGENCY FUND CHALLENGE - £2,292.05 / £6000

Well maybe maybe not - they do it (if they are sensible) by buying currency futures from a currency speculator. That is, it's an expert's considered view on what is likely to happen to the exchange rate in the meantime, with a bit of adjustment for their expenses. Whether the money is in their bank or the currency speculator's depends on their contract with him - do they pay upfront or on delivery? So yes - someone is getting that interest but it's not the main part of the equation.0 -
I've used TMS recently and bought £1200 of Euros 3 weeks ahead of when I needed it. It got delivered on a Royal Mail Special Delivery Service on time and there were no issues. I'd consider using TMS again although on hindsight it's a little trusting parting cash upfront with a company you've never heard of and just trusting a website and that the fact that they top the google search listing for currency exchanges.
Interestingly, the contract note email that I got back from TMS is from @torfx.com. This company is also based in Cornwall and seems to be aimed at large businesses etc. Not sure what the connection is between the two companies.
Thought I'd share my experience which turned out to be a positive one. (whew!)0 -
Hi all,
I've just sent the cheque off in the post to this company for my US dollars, so I hope they'll deliver ok! I'm travelling on 24th August, and was told they'll deliver the currency and TCs on 20th. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed now though.
Thanks to ajhopkins, for at least reassuring us that the currency did turn up for him (her?).
Happy travelling0
