Height of a Cooker Chimney Hood

Putting in a new kitchen and decided against a range cooker and will go for a 600mm one. Question is: what is the minimum height that a cooker hood should go above the cooker.
Oh it’s an all gas cooker. The reason I ask is that I’ve only got about 2200mm floor to ceiling. This has to incorporate the cooker, chimney hood and possibly a splashback (don’t know if I need one when the cooker has a lid!
Still to buy the cooker, hood and splashback
Regards

I just fitted a 1000 mm range with splashback and chimney type hood. The cooker was 900 mm height, splashback was 750 mm and chimney hood was adjustable but minimum height was 810 mm. That made a total of 2460 mm. I had 2300 mm height in the kitchen so I had to cut into the ceiling to fit the chimney in. Luckily it's a single storey with a sloping ceiling so there was plenty of room. The hood is vented out of an external wall so there isn't a problem with air flowing into the roof space.
If you are going for a standard 600 mm cooker then you can get hoods which are much smaller in height. The minimum recommended height above a gas cooker is 750 mm. The manual for the cooker you buy will have manufacturers guidelines in it that will tell you the recommended height above the cooker.
Another thing to think about is how tall you are. I am 6 ft and if my hood was any lower I would be banging my head on it all the time.0 -
Hi the minimum height over a gas hob is 650mm, I fit at 750 because of the bump your head factor, the maximum depends whether air is extracted or recycled and if hood has 150mm outlet or 100.
Your hood will come with full instructions for height
hthMaybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'0 -
So being 6'3" I'll have to got the highest I can!!. I'm extracting out through the ceiling as there are no wall exits available.0
