If security is breached in this way and your account is affected, the bank will compensate you for any loss of funds. As long as you haven't been careless with your logon/security details, then the bank will usually repay any missing funds back into your account. Please call me 'Kazza'.0

I reckon we at MSE have opened so many accounts at the high rate offered by Cahoot in June that the Bank of Santander wants us to take our money and run - cheaper for them in the long run!!! Only joking ;D ;D0

eek. how scary. i've got the savings account and apart from trouble logging on recently have been v happy with them. wonder how often this kind of thing happens:A0

I doubt it happens very often and anyway it wasn't possible to move any money etc.
I am always recieving statements for other people accounts wrongly put through my letterbox (I of course circle the address and put it back in the postbox without opening it) and so it's no different to that. In fact considering credit cards etc. are being sent through the same system it's much more dangerous to use the postal system than web banking.
Personally I believe that internet banking is much more convienent and safe than most other methods and I will be sticking with Cahoot on the basis that it is highely unlikely that they will let this happen again.Alex Jones0 -
Far more dangerous is the increasing number of emails currently arriving which purport to come from "well known banks" asking you to click on a link because they are "upgrading their security procedures" or similar.
Received another four of these overnight and they do look quite convincing.
Needless to say banks do not ask for such info in this manner or at least known I am aware of.
Such emails should be simply deleted. My website has lots of info and photos from various Greek and Canary Islands esp. about walking. My profile has the site address cos not allowed to put it here.0 -

The Cahoot lapse is worrying but I'll continue to bank there in the belief that in the unlikely event that it does go all wrong, they'll compensate customers. What is a bit unnerving is hearing these rumours that people in the IT industry stay away from online banking!0 -
" Would it not be better to forward them to the genuine bank to investigate? " - not really - the banks all know what is going on (and on the online sites like Cahoot and A+L they have warnings about such emails) and bear in mind these bogus mails are sent out in their 1000s and the senders email addresses are dropoffs.
nope - best to just zap them like you do with any junk.
and also, I still am involved in IT and am quite happy with my various online accounts - safe+secure as anything else.My website has lots of info and photos from various Greek and Canary Islands esp. about walking. My profile has the site address cos not allowed to put it here.0
