pat testing of new products

the play group that i work for is moving into the local school and there seems to be some discussion over the problem. i under stand that electrical items have to be tested every 12 months but what happenes when they are bran new item????? my partner thinks it would be good practice get get them tested then you know when your 12 months are up, but what is the law stance on it?????

You only need it done after 12 months. Not when it is new. However, I would suggest that if you are having PAT testing done within the next 12 months for other equipment, then get this done at the same time as it will mean the tester won't have to come back to do one appliance and the next time they are done, they will all be done at the same time and therefore avoiding the problem of some being missed.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

A new item does not need testing until it is 12 months old but anything new purchased between annual tests should be tested on your first test after purchase be it after 1 month or 11 months to keep life (and your records) simple0
