DD gone up by nearly £70

I got an email from scottish power a couple of days ago asking for my meter reading. Did this and submitted it to them online. Today I got an email saying they've adjusted my DD from £15 to £84.50:eek: They say this is to stop any large arrears (which is understandable) but that is a BIG leap. My next meter reading will obviously be less as it won't have my winter consumption on it. Will they put the DD down again?! I was with EDF until January this year because they kept doing the same thing with my DD - I never knew where I was

Rant over!

£15 looked way too low to me, think that was the problem and why the leap looks soo big

This is what I thought too. It would have been better if they'd started me off nearer to what I was paying with EDF, about £50 elec and £25 gas.

Did it not occur to you that after paying £75 per month, that a payment of £15 might just not cover your bill ??

    Yes thats my 1st thought.

£15 per month was way too low unless you out nearly all day/night

TBH I think its best to submit meter readings regularly and not rely on a quarterly read. I do mine every month so don't accrue much debt/credit. Mine went down in Nov from £85 to £70 but due to prices rising this year and usage its gone back up to £85 although I am leaving my current supplier soon

I was with SP at my old address paying £79 pm, i moved into my new house, had to wait to change suppliers back to SP, they set my gas & Elec at £38 pm, told them this was way to low, 'dont worry' they said to me, we will adjust if theres a short fall, one quater bill later, my monthly DD has now gone up to £148 pm...i'm currently going through their complaints dept to find out why they didnt listen to me to start with.

Although, big bill aside, i do like SP, had no problems before, so i'm hoping this can be sorted out.

As I had changed through a comparison site I thought I had been paying too much with EDF, guess I was misinformed:confused:

After my complaint to SP, i have had a call from a very helpfull lady, i have now had my monthly DD change to £97 pm fixed until 2011, i have agreed to pay an extra £10 pm on top of that until my shortfall has cleared, she also advised me to input my meter readings on a monthly basis.
    Well done SP

Your DD is NOT fixed to until 2011.

You may be on the 'fixed to 2011 tariff' but that is quite another thing.

On that tariff, like any other(except the 'Staywarm' type) you will pay for what gas and electricity you use. If you use more than £97 a month your debit balance will build up, exactly as it did before, and your DD will increase to repay that debt.
