Parking Ticket!
Posting on behalf of my OH.
He recently went to college only to found no parking spaces with absolutly no where else to park (because of its location).
Theres a Weatherspoons close by which he attends usually about 4pm anyways with his friends on frees (to drink non alcoholic drinks!) so he parked in there.
Went to his car found a £50 ticket for not being a customer. Yes its stricktly ture up to that point but he does usually go in there the day hes at college anyway.
Is there any way out of this or does he have to pay the £50?
Thanks

If it's a private fine rather than a council issued one it can probably be safely ignored and not paid.
However, should he really be parking on private land because he couldn't find anywhere to park? When I go to university I leave the car at home as I don't have to struggle to park, and I take a 30 minute walk there instead. Less hassle, less petrol used, more exercise. All good things :j
I suspect there was some kind of pay and display or multi-storey within range but he couldn't be bothered paying to park and went for the free option...
Like I say private fine probably legally unenforceable but they will send threatening letters to try make you pay up. But this doesn't mean it's a good idea to park there all the time and drop the fines on the floor as it will probably next be a clamp.0
