Why do I have to unplug?

I changed from windows 98 to XP when BT Broadband Basic was installed.
With 98 when i shut down my Computer, it switched off completely. With XP I am left with a message "It is now safe to switch off your computer"
I have to unplug to complete shutdown.
Is ther any way I can have complete shutdown without unplugging?
Any advice appreciated!

As I've got multiple users the option to switch off comes up twice on my XP. Can you go "start" "turn off computer" twice or something?Torgwen..........

Basically it's to do with ACPI detection

I think you will find the answer.
As you used to have it shut down in 98 you should be able to follow point 1 and have it fixed.
btw I doubt you have to pull the plug just hold your power button down for about 3 seconds...
Good luck.
Please PM me if you need more help, I read and comment on too many threads to keep an eye on any one ! :rolleyes:0 -
