Spending money for a Jamaican AI holiday - anybody help please?

Hi,
I read somewhere that the people at the Sarfish Trelawny Beach hotel in Jamaica don't like changing large US $ notes.

I left my boyfriend to sort out the travel money & told him that we needed small denominations but he's just rung me to say he's got 1 x 100 dollar notes & 3 x 50 dollar notes among the money. Do you think we'll have a problem spending these?

  • why not try and change them for smaller notes at the airport
i know that in st lucia they dont like to change the large notes and if they do they give you your change in e.c dollars which can be really confusing .
  • can be a bit arsie about it change into small notes asap always handy for a tip here and there.
Mind you any large purchease but on a credit card, and you not need much cash went AI in barbados and spent about $8 in 2 weeks (had to watch a footie match in a local bar)
  • Hi Kirstyreanne
i went to this hotel xmas/new year 2000/2001, had a great time. whenever i go abroad i try never to get anything bigger than a $50 bill, but this is a big hotel so they should have no trouble changing $100 bills if you do have trouble ask one of the reps to change it
all the best hope you have a good time
