possible divorce and benefits

I'm having a very bad situation with hubby, looks like we are heading for a split. I've been applying for jobs but so far no luck. I'd like to know if he leaves us, will I be able to get benefits to survive until I can hopefully get a full time job.
here is the situation. I have 2 children, one 13 and one 9. 9 yr old gets higher rate DLA. I receive carers allowance. If I am alone, will I be able to get income support and have help with mortgage payments interest? I had a quick look at entitledto.com already, but as my situation would be so different as a lone parent, I wanted to ask here. I think that I would get interest payments after 8 weeks, as my daughter is on higher rate DLA.

Where would I stand with regards to my house, would I be forced to sell to split any profit? Bought house at 60,000, now worth over £100,00, mortgage about £53000...we have been paying repayement for past 2 yrs, before that had an interest only with a isa to pay off at end of 25 yrs. mortgage taken out in 2000.
Would the isa be counted and disallow any IS? we kept it going in case we had to go back to interest only at some stage, its worth about £14000 now. Not sure that I would be able to keep up the payments each month (£100!) if I was a lone parent and found it hard to find work.
Sorry if confusing info here, i am struggling to come to some decision.

You cant be forced to sell except by a court and thats very unlikly because of the children. You can clain IS as lone parent/carer as long as your savings are below £16,000. Any savings between £6,000 and £16,000 will be taken as income of £1 for every £250 each week. You can use the savings at a reasonable rate and you may be asked for receipts of what you spent them on(I had to do this). In your case you would get no mortgage help for 8 wks then 50% for 18 wks then 100% 26wks onwards.(100% maynot be 100% of your morgage but their standard rate which i think is 6.8% so if your rate is lower than that you should be close to 100%). If you decide that you cant afford to keep the house then the local authority has a duty to house you. I couldnt afford to keep my home and we had to sell it, the council said i would be intentionly homeless and not get help from them but thats a lie and you have to stick to your guns especially if you or your children are disabled they come round in the end and we got a house. You have to do what is right for you but i say dont stay in a suitation just because the other option is danting as in my case it was hard to start with but the best thing for everyone. Back to IS you would get a carer premium added to your amount which all helps.
