how do i report attempted money laundering

Following my card advert on gumtree I've had a few e-mails obviously wanting me to launder money for them, no worries i'm not falling for it, but i do wonder if there's anywhere i can send these mails to, so the people sending them might be caught or at least scared.

the e-mails are coming from a generic yahoo.com address anyone could get so not sure there's much point but i've searched here and can't find anything usefull but as there is with banks/ebay etc and e-mail to forward these things to i wondered if there was a generic one for money laundering?

you can report to gumtree direct - look at the email that the 'launderers' sent you and there is a link on the email to report dodgy / spam mail

it works because I reported someone this morning and I have received a 'thank you, we're looking into it' email back

You may want to report it directly to the Financial Services Authority (FSA)
Contact info at the following website:

But the Home Secretary was on the radio yesterday, saying we have more police than ever before ...

It doesn't hurt to at least give your police station a call to find out what they recommend you doing. It is a crime afterall..

Are they really wanting to money launder using your services?
Are they offering to buy goods, pay over the odds and get you to return the excess to them? If that is the case, it isn't money laundering, it is getting money from you when they don't actually send you any.

Despite what the Daily Mail and other such rags say, the police do still tend to take an interest in solving crimes.

Seriously, get in touch. Even if they're not interested, what's it to you; a couple of minutes on the phone?

    hi

it is the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) that deals with money laundering ...i'm sure if you can't find their details the police should either report it or refer you to SOCA.

This is more likely to be a classic fake cheque scam rather than money laundering as described at http://www.fraud.org/tips/internet/fakecheck.htm
