Switching supplier - need help as I am totally confused!
I havespent over an hour on uswitch and I am completely confuddled
I put my monthly DD figures into Uswitch and it tells me I can save £96 if i switch to Eon.....looked on quidco and I can get £55 c/back... :j
but when the amount per kwh is a similar amount to what is on my current bills then how will I be saving money???????? Is it cos they offer bigger dual fuel discounts or what?
What should I be looking for?
Help!!!!

With E-on there are some quite heavy direct debit discounts and online discounts that can be up to around 20% so the unit rates with E-on could even be slightly more than you are paying now but it would be lower because of those discounts.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

As always, try and input your 12 month actual usage figures (KWh) to get more accurate estimations of actual costs as well.0

if it helps i've been recentlyl looking at sites to change suppliers and found they way they work out your saving totally usless,
In the end I got out my old bills and worked out my last 3, how much i would have cost with the top 3 companies reccomended by the comparison sites.
You can then base it on actuall usage, % discounts, service charges etc etc etc. While they all promised to save me on the comparison sites, actually one one company were saving me money - so i moved to them.
It did take time but it's the only way to be accurate i think.Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
I have spent hours trying to work all this out.
I now know my annual usage for gas and electricity.
I know how I pay my bills and how I want to pay in the future.
I know my current cost per units (ex VAT)
I know my current E7 %
I know I pay a standard daily charge - cunning how some don't but the first x amount you use is higher.
I have tried 4 comparisons sites and they all give different figures. I guess all I can do it work it out manually..
I do have 2 questions.
I am with a provider who scores high on customer care the few who could be cheaper have poor care - do you think this will be a problem - I have only ever rang them once?
It looks like it is cheaper to pay by monthly DD - I pay quarterly DD how much do you save paying monthly compared to the interest you earn (say 6%). I understand all companies will vary but is there an average?
Many thanks and good luck anybody else doing this. I bet loads of poor people have gone ahead and switched and saved very little if at all in the end.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Some of us have even paid a little more for the security of the price being fixed until Feb 2011:D
Sorry my post wasn't well worded. I agree with swopping and getting the best deal - hene why I have spent at least 4 hours looking at this so far but I am not certain that the comparision sites always show up the best deal and just wondered it people had swopped never thought anymore of it and ended up no better off.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Always do the comparison on the basis of costs. How much electricity do you use in a year and how much will it cost. You will have to do a lot of legwork around suppliers, because OFGEM shutdown a number of sites which were offering this info, IIRC.
If it is 'how much do you save' type comparisons, you'll be sunkAfter the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
